CHECK  OUT WHY BELOW

REHAU supplies us with theirRehau
Logo uPVC Profiles.

There are many outstanding reasons why we choose to use REHAU:

 (1) Independent tests show their extrusions are  the strongest on the market. That allows us to build larger windows without fear of sagging, bowing, or warping out of shape.

(2) The profiles are the slimmest available. That means less exposed frame and sash elements and  less resultant heat loss from the frames. Slimmer frames allow more light and passive solar heat gain into your home, saving you lighting and heating costs.

(3) Rehau extrusions are built to withstand the cold and extremely windy Canadian winters and greatly buffer the sound of even gale-force winds.

(4) Rehau extrusions are inherently fire-retardant. They will not support combustion.

(5) Rehau extrusions do not corrode or rot thus extending the life of the product since it is resistant to the growth of mold and mildew. There is less waste which effectively creates a lower stress on the environment (i.e. the uPVC is re-cyclable).(6) Rehau frame and sash components are constructed using the latest uPVC Vinyl (un-plasticized PVC) made from 100% rigid PVC. This technology is not subject to damage caused by sun, ultra-violet and infa-red rays, airborne chemicals, pollutants or temperature extremes.

(7) Rehau's profiles are multi-chambered, and provide excellent performance in energy savings with superior thermal insulation resulting in reduced heating and cooling costs. The multi-chambered design also produces increased strength and rigidity. In addition, the multi-chambered design reduces the amount of sound that may penetrate the interior from outdoors. Believed to be the first (and only) vinyl window design ever to earn a performance rating in the highest classification defined in the window industry, their vinyl windows are unsurpassed. They are extremely easy to operate, much stronger, energy-efficient, and very durable.

Super Spacer®

Edgetech
Logo

Super Spacer® is made with Thermoset Spacer (TSS®) technology. This technology ensures that the spacer will expand and contract, but it will always maintain its structural integrity by returning to its original shape. This is very important because windows are constantly exposed to temperature changes, UV ray bombardment, barometric pressure changes and wind load. Other rigid spacers containing metal do not allow for the natural expansion and contraction that must occur in the insulated glass unit to offset the effects of these pressures on the glass. The results are stress cracks that eventually lead to seal failure. Super Spacer is a dual-seal system that uses a high-performance acrylic adhesive for its structural seal. Backed with a moisture vapor seal, Super Spacer insulating glass lasts five times longer in durability tests than single seal units. The results are obvious. Super Spacer structural foam combines with this acrylic adhesive strength to form the most reliable primary seal in an insulating glass unit on the market.

ROTO HARDWARE

High-performance Hardware: Our casement and awning windows come fitted with a high quality multi-point locking system. The hardware is corrosion resistant and stainless steel in critical areas. The locking mechanism is driven by a folding cranked handle thus the system is locked with a single operation easy-to-reach lock. Special egress hinges can be added to comply with egress conditions.

Finest Technology: All components are fully integrated in the window sash making them invisible from the outside.

Strong High Sash Weights and High Security: With the standard Roto NT Designo hardware, sash weights of up to 176 lbs (80kg) are possible. As from May 2007, windows with a sash weight of up to 286 lbs. (130kg) can also be made.

Innovative Security Concept: Roto NT Designo is equipped with small, compact hinge-side components for additional security - up to burglary resistance grade 2 (WK2). The anti-jimmy device is integrated as standard in the corner hinge.

Straight Forward Designo is Completely Integrated: All of Roto NT Designo's components are perfectly matched with the Roto NT modular system. This considerably reduces installation time and expense.

Twin-Cam Security Lock (TSL): Up to eight locking points with adjustable twin-cams offer even greater security against burglary. The unique gear mechanism operates the reverse-action twin cams.

All cams engage in behind individual recesses on both sides of the striker; in both the locking and night-vent position. Attempts to force a cam out of its locked position only drive the other cam deeper into its recess.

The "Twin-cam Security Lock" stands for high security and effective resistance against lateral forces as well as easy operation.

Roto X-Drive and X-Drive Marine Series: With Roto's newest line of casement and awning hardware, you get the reliability of the standard hardware in powder-coated steel or the strength and corrosion resistance of marine-grade stainless steel. Add to this, superior performance and unique styling and mix in the option of adding an aesthetically-appealing removable cover, where the standard folding handle nests to virtually disappear, and you get real flexibility.

Roto X-Drive Operator Series:

Roto's new, compact X-Drive Casement & Awning Operators feature your choice of 100% stainless steel or powder coated steel on all exterior components for super-smooth performance, unsurpassed quality, and superior corrosion resistance. Add to this an optional removable cover that's available in either metal or plastic, with numerous architectural finishes and you get real flexibility. Roto operators feature a standard folding handle, and now, with the removable cover, it nests compactly to virtually disappear.
X-Drive Performance:

The X-Drive operator is designed to outperform the standards set by AAMA. The carbon steel arms exceed the AAMA 907 standard of 750 hours of corrosion protection. The stainless steel operator provides over 2000 hours! The gear drive system is protected to minimize contaminants and operator housing is sealed to resist water infiltration. The series has been commercially rated to AAMA 101 - verified components list and is Rated Heavy Commercial to AAMA 901 - Rotary Operator Cycle Test.

Available Operators:

Single Arm:

Available in 7.5", 9.5" and 13.5". Sash fully opens in only 7 turns.

Split Arm:

For smaller casement applications, fits windows as narrow as 13" and fully opens in 7 turns.

Dual Arm:

Ideal for high end requirements. Opens sashes from as small as 24" to as large as 48" x 84" and up to 108 lbs with only 17 turns.

Awning:

Specifically designed for smooth operation in awning windows with a minimum width of 18". Provides up to 13" of opening in only 12 turns.

X-Drive Covers:

Roto offers a wide variety of colors and finish options for the X-Drive removable covers, in both metal and plastic. This offers manufacturers a flexible solution and reduced inventories.

i-Lock Sliding Window Sash LockDTWM:

Roto i-Lock's automatic latching and retention feature makes it easy to determine if the window is locked or unlocked. To unlock the window, users simply pull the "button" toward them into the unlocked position and the button indicates that the window is unlocked. As the window sash is opened, the lock resets to the locked position. When the sash is closed, an audible click to indicates the window is locked securely.

For greater durability, i-Lock's internal mechanism has two retention clips and two springs. The simple design requires less moving parts resulting in reliable operation. In addition, its latch is positioned in the center of the lock for maximum balance.

Capitalizing on this balance, i-Lock has been proven to achieve forced entry resistance requirements as well as passing required industry performance and hurricane impact testing.

THE ENERGY RATINGS EXPLAINED                        CSA Logo

See"Windows and Doors" Area

Air Leakage (AL)

Heat loss and gain occur by infiltration through cracks in the window assembly. It is indicated by an air leakage rating (AL) expressed as the equivalent cubic feet of air passing through a square foot of window area. The lower the AL, the less air will pass through cracks in the window assembly. At this time, the AL is optional.

Select windows with an AL of 0.30 or less (units are cfm/sq ft).

U-Factor

The rate of heat loss is indicated in terms of the U-factor (U-value) of a window assembly. The insulating value is indicated by the R-value which is the inverse of the U-value. The lower the U-value, the greater a window's resistance to heat flow and the better its insulating value.

Northern Climate: Select windows with a U-factor of 0.35 or less. If air conditioning loads are minimal, windows with U-factors as high as 0.40 are also energy-efficient if the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient is 0.50 or higher. Some double-glazed low-e products have U-factors below 0.30. Some three-layer products have U-factors as low as 0.15.

Visible Transmittance (VT)

The visible transmittance (VT) is an optical property that indicates the amount of visible light transmitted. The NFRC's VT is a whole window rating and includes the impact of the frame which does not transmit any visible light. While VT theoretically varies between 0 and 1, most values are between 0.3 and 0.8. The higher the VT, the more light is transmitted. A high VT is desirable to maximize daylight.

Select windows with a higher VT to maximize daylight and view.

Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC)

The SHGC is the fraction of incident solar radiation admitted through a window, both admitted through a window, both directly transmitted, and absorbed and subsequently released inward. SHGC is expressed as a number between 0 and 1. The lower a window's solar heat gain coefficient, the less solar heat it transmits.

Northern Climate: To reduce heating, select the highest SHGC you can find (usually 0.30-0.60 for the U-factor ranges required in colder climates) so that winter solar gains can offset a portion of the heating energy need. If cooling is a significant concern, select windows with a SHGC less than 0.55. Use RESFEN to understand trade-offs.
